Mission

The Center for Financial Education and Empowerment (CFEE) offers financial education and guidance to individuals and families navigating financial challenges associated with a significant change in health.  According to the CDC, 90% of the nation’s annual health expenditures are for people impacted by chronic conditions and mental illness.  It is estimated that 6 in 10 Americans live with at least one chronic disease.  Chronic conditions such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes have a significant impact on an individual’s finances, impacting savings, retirement plans, taxes, cash flow, debt levels, insurability, and more.  The burden of chronic illness on personal finance may be further magnified by the lingering impact and evolution of COVID-19.

Our website offers regular and relevant articles related to personal finances and health, an inclusive and collaborative online community for members to find support, and downloadable tools and resources.  We offer comprehensive financial planning services to eligible individuals, question and answer services, group presentations, and workshops on financial planning topics.  Through these resources, we strive to educate and empower individuals and families regarding personal finances to reduce the financial burden created by a change in health.

We provide the following resources and services to individuals and families:

  • Regular article posts on personal finances as they relate to major health diagnoses.
  • An online forum to share personal experiences as they relate to finances and health.
  • Downloadable checklists, workflows and templates that relate to personal finances and a change in health.
  • Question and Answer services for personalized guidance on personal finances.
  • Consulting and financial planning services to eligible individuals.
